Calculation
of car lease payments normally requires the use of a business
calculator or computer spreadsheet program that uses the industry-standard
auto leasing payment formula. The formula is explained here.
This online calculator uses the same formula and will produce
exactly the same results as a car dealer's lease payment calculations,
assuming the same input figures are used. If your results are
different than those from your dealer, your dealer is not sharing
all his input figures with you.
This lease
calculator requires that the following inputs be provided: capitalized
cost (negotiated vehicle price, plus any additional charges,
taxes, and fees), capitalized cost reduction (down payment
or trade-in credit), residual value (estimated vehicle
lease-end value), money factor (finance rate), and term
(length of lease, in months). Note that your down payment figure
should not include lease inception fees such as tax, tag, and
title fees.
An online
lease calculator allows you to check your dealer's figures for
mistakes - both unintentional and intentional. Never accept a
dealer's lease payment figures without doing your own verification.
