The term, car lease specials, typically refers to special lease deals being offered by car manufacturers, in conjunction with dealers.

These kinds of deals, known as "subvented" leases, are offered by car makers to promote sales of particular models. Usually, the manufacturer will offer, through their own financial company, a low monthly payment that is based on a discounted price (low cap cost), low interest rate (low money factor), long lease term (length of lease), or a low down payment — or all of the above.

These special lease deals may be offered locally, regionally, or nationally and are typically heavily advertised in newspapers and on TV, but usually don't have a specific car dealer named in the ad. This is a good indicator that the deal is being promoted directly by a manufacturer and that it is not a dealer ad.

However, dealers may also place their own newspaper ads or TV spots advertising manufacturer-subsidized lease deals. If multiple dealers of the same brand of vehicle advertise essentially the same lease deal, it's a clue that this is a manufacturer-backed special.

Typically, these special lease promotions are actually good deals and not simply marketing hype. However, you may want to read the fine print to determine if the deal applies to the car model you want and that the terms of the deal are acceptable to you.

If you decide to go with one of these deals, make sure your lease contract accurately reflects all the deal's details before you sign.
